One more thing every time I try and enter anything it says "Bad command line"
Also I remember something about drivers basically my audio driver used to randomly go but when I restarted the computer i came back so I think the problem lies somewhere there

"A:\>"
means you are booting to a floppy disk not the hard drive.

remove the floppy disk and boot normally

I am not getting what the hangup here is.

Did you just mistype this? A:\>

That is a floppy drive prompt.

So with no floppy disk in the machine what happens and where do you end up?

I worked this out, yes you have the Norton PC-DOS Version popping up on the Restore CD. It creates a virtual A:\_ drive.

FYI this is not PC-DOS7 it is Symantec hacked PC-DOS licensed from IBM

Either the CD is corrupted or your hard drive is knackered.............

Have you checked in BIOS that drives are being recognized correctly ??

I hate that Symantec crap..

EWEN it is the correct forum, it is a 6 year old HP DX2000MT and he is using the original Operating System Restore CD, id not feel that Windows 7 is 6 years old ?

Try to follow this:

When you are in A:\>

Type C:

Go to support directory (cd SUPPORT)

And then, type ghost
