Clean the edge connectors of the RAM with a pencil eraser, then pop it in and out a few times to clear oxide off the socket itself. Oxide often gives trouble when you disturb RAM.

There are other possibilities but try the above first.

What's the time?

thank you for replying and i did as you recommended but it still not giving me anything. i mean the screen just stays black i cant even get into bios. i should also mention when i put in the new ram i later found out it wasnt compatible with my computer i know this cause when i put it in. i got an olmost weird kinda like electric smell blowing out of the fan so i quickly turned it off it couldnt be more then 5 seconds from the time i turned it on to when i turned it off. is there any way i totally fried my original ram or damaged it in any way? will i need a new one?

"will i need a new one?"
likely wont help, you probably fried the motherboard.

The smell is a very bad sign. It is possible you damaged your motherboard. Post back system specs, especially motherboard and RAM specs so we can have some idea what might have happened. Also did you ground yourself before you touched the RAM each time you handled them? Static shock can damage RAM, and If you did not have the smell, I would suspect just that first.
