Specs: Windows XP
Keyboard AND Touchpad not working on Windows XP

Hi, I've got a friend's Packard Bell EasyNote Model MV35-V-007 laptop and I just want to copy her files before doing a clean XP install. The problem is NEITHER KEYBOARD NOR TOUCHPAD WORKS, so I cannot do anything with the computer!

I've tried plugging an USB keyboard/mouse, didn't work. I've tried using Windows XP install cd-rom, but after "checking for boot files on cd-rom drive" I'm prompted to "press any key to boot from cd" - I CAN'T!!!

help!!! It's driving me mad!

millawitch, bad KB? I've had several die. Substitute another?
Can you get into safe mode?
Make sure you have the proper drivers.

Hey, thanks for the reply.

No, I cannot enter BIOS... The only thing I can do is make XP start.

I've tried to repair this issue using the XP cd, but to no avail. I've been thinking on flashing the BIOS from a bootable cd, but I run the risk of not being able to make it work if I have to "press any key", it would be ideal if I could know that the bootable flash BIOS overrides this step.

You can't do anything if the keyboard won't work.
Drivers are not required for it before Windows loads.

Most modern laptops cannot run or cannot run properly on the AC adaptor alone when the main battery is not installed or is dead.

If the keyboard won't work, the only solution is to replace it.
Some here:

Does any of the following apply ??

Did the owner drop the laptop, or spill any liquid on it, or expose to any liquid, such as rain, whether it was running at the time or not, since the keyboard last worked?
Has anyone been fiddling with the wiring connection of the keyboard or with anything inside it's base ?
