pass word issue

Specs: Windows XP
administrator of my comp and forgot password dont want to do a quick restore and i may loose
my info on my desktop family photo and i dont know how to back up my files change password cause of the kids and i havent been on in a min when i had i forgot the password so now i am using my guest desk top.

Try booting to Windows Safe Mode and if successful, changing the password from there. When prompted for a password in Safe Mode try hitting enter, if you never applied a password for safe mode boot.

tried booting and pressing the f8 and it didnt go to safew mode should i restart it only show the start up menu and and my three accounts i set up but when i go to start to shut down i only see three buttons shut down, hibernate, or restart

If you are using a USB keyboard it may not work in the POST screens. If the computer has a PS/2 keyboard port try using a PS/2 keyboard.

You may not have tapped F8 soon enough. Try continuously tapping as soon as you start the computer.
