Paging file allocation on drives

March 26, 2017 at 03:57:20
Specs: Windows 10
On good old XP, it wouldn't let you put a paging file on an external drive - only internal, although you could go through the motions and there would be no warning that you you couldn't do it. Exploring any external drive afterwards (showing ALL files) didn't show a paging file, even though the procedure looked like it had succeeded. Can't speak for any current OS.

Err.. Was this posted for information (couldn't seem to find a question)?

General comment, whatever drive you put the paging file on needs to be fast otherwise there is no point doing it. I don't think it is something folk bother with much these days, especially with the advent of fast drives such as SSD.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
