Outlook Express blank body

November 5, 2009 at 10:38:23
Specs: Windows XP
Hopefully someone can help me out with this one. I'm using Outlook Express to send/receive e-mail, and yesterday, upon starting it up, I found that all of my saved and new messages in -every- folder had -blank- message bodies. The subject line and sender information is all there - as well as the size of the e-mail, details, message source, etc - it's the actual text or attachments that are invisible. Pre-existing Messages that i've -forwarded- to other e-mail accounts show up blank as well. Can anyone offer a suggestion? My computer is virus free, i'm not out of Memory, and anything else I can think of is not an issue. I'm desperate - as there are messages that I need to retrieve for work over the weekend, but cannot!

I was also told to try putting regsvr32 inetcomm.dll in the start run but it never solved my proplem....
Thanks for any input.

- Regards,

That's one user's solution.

If you hit reply, does the text appear? If you try to highlight as if the text were there, do you see it?

I opened Outlook Express with the intention of blocking the
email message from showing.
At the top Tools - Options - Read Tab - I unchecked
(you will need to Check Mark) Automatically download message when viewing in the Review Pane
Click APPLY at the bottom.
With Read Mail open = Starting at the top
File under that
Create Mail and under that make the selection -
Show all Messages.
Close Outlook Express and re open it.
You have to be on the Internet for mail to be downloaded.
That's the closest I can come to create your problem or solving it.
You can download Widows Live Mail
Maybe your mail will show up their, It's the latter
version of Outlook Express.

I had the exact problem, did lots of stuff nothing worked, including virus scans , trying lots of different setings, even a uninstall didn't work Alias VICTORY, I created the shortcut to Outlook with wrong route to it. It was to the Outlook in Service pack 3. See if this works for you. GO :
My computer , C drive , Program files , Outlook Express , scroll down to file: msimn.exe
Double click on it and outlook will open up and i bet the text will show now if this is the problem , if it works make a PROPER shortcut to it Right click on msimn.exe
scroll to Send to : Desktop (create Shortcup) double click.
Go to desktop . try the shortcut and re-name it Outlook Express. Delete old shortcuts.
Let me know if this helped.

To luggie, Brilliant! That worked for me. There had been a problem with the shortcut not linking to the file before the problem and seemed to be solved after I clicked on "Fix It". But then I'd got the blank email body problem and been trawling through loads of solutions but yours is the only one that worked for me so Thank You very much. :-))

PS Not sure why, if it was the wrong path, it would start OE without error before but not display properly, I'd have thought that it wouldn't start at all so I'm puzzled over that one!

Glad to have help you, All my problems started after i had a virus and had to re-install XP, i lost my shortcut. I looked up how to create one at a acouple help sites usually using the : Search--> For files and folders. Then they directed me to the wrong msimn.exe file. I thought my shortcut was good, because it seemed to open OE fine ,but the text body was blank. Then the whole mess of trying to fix OE when nothing was wrong with it and ALL'S that's wrong was my shortcut had the wrong route. I just made a Proper shortcut to the right exe. file and that fixed everything.
