out of frequency

adjusted pixels too high for monitor now I get an "out of frequency" message, then a countdown, then a blank screen

So, why not change it back ????
You could do that in Windows Safe-Mode.

I get a screen that says out of frequency, then a count down, then it goes blank...How do I fix that, I am not computer literate.

Do you see the Dell splash screen when you 1st boot up? Do you hear the single POST beep? "Out of frequency" usually means your video card isn't sending a signal to the monitor. It has nothing to do with "adjusted pixels". If you don't hear the POST beep, you have a hardware problem, possibly a major one.
