First off, I have no idea how this happened.
My computer does auto updates, so it's hard
telling if it updated or not.I got to my PC this morning and the monitor
wouldn't come on (no video output). I
rebooted, and after the Windows XP splash
load screen finished it started loading the
screen that you select the user on. It got
about 2 frames in...I saw a mouse and a light
blue screen...then it started flickering like
crazy. The flickering got faster and faster until
I finally rebooted again and tried to revert
settings to last known good configuration. I
was able to get a little farther on the login
screen. Except this time it was very distorted
and corrupt. Weird lines, circles, random
colors and squares everywhere. One time I
got a BSoD, but it was unreadable (distortion). It boots to safe mode, and VGA mode. I
updated my graphics card (NVIDIA Geforce
8500 GT 512mb). No change. When in VGA mode, I've tried changing the
"Colors" from 8 bit to 32 bit, and also tried
changing the resolution...when doing either of
those, the PC freezes and I get distortion and
corrupt video again.I'm completely stuck. Can anyone help me?
with the power disconnected from the system and yourself grounded to the system pull and reseat your video card. if it continues I would suspect a faulty video card.
