Desperately need help NTUSER.DAT
Hi all, am in desperate need for help. I took my laptop a toshoba p100 into work to be fixed and they have told me that I have erased the NTUser.Dat file, I didn't even know what it was. Is there any way that the file could have been deleted in any other way such as malware or anything else. Please help as they are giving me a really hard time. NTUSER.DAT files are the HKEY_CURRENT_USER hive for the registry.

Is there any way that the file could have been deleted in any other way such as malware or anything else

Malware? - not likely that I know of.
Anything else? - Either User error or crashed HDD.

Thanks for taking time out
My work are saying that I deleted it because I didnt want them to access it because they think I have been downloading music, which I havn't. They said I created a new user then deleted the NTUser.DAT file from my original profile as they had given me Administrator privelages. I still have no idea what they are going on about
I have to find out what the hell happened so I can clear this up
again any help would be great

My suggestion for repair is to use XP repair if you have the original XP disc, and then re-install the service pack.

I accidentally deleted NTUser once, decidedly a bad idea.
