nosecuritytab value missing

Specs: Windows XP
Ok I've got the same problem described in this post: http://www.computing.net/answers/wi...

Apparently the solution described is to change the registry value. Unfortunately, I don't have any registry value names "nosecuritytab" to enable/disable

I notice in my Registry that the so called nosecurity tab is not shown.
But the 'properties' of my folders have a "File Sharing/Security" tab.

Problem may be related to what Edition of XP you have. I have XP Home. Person in your link has XP Pro.

I do have XP Pro, and I do have a "sharing and security" choice not under properties but directly when I right-click.

I have tried to allow access to everyone, but unfortunately it doesn't change anything.

FYI in the meantime I managed to add the registry key but nothing came up.

Maybe I'll start from the beginning: I am trying to access an external hard drive from my regular XP account (which has admin privileges) and the access is denied, so here I am :)
