No US International Keyboard in Outlook Exp?

June 11, 2010 at 04:03:59
Specs: Windows XP
Cannot type US-International Keyboard in Outlook Express.
Us-International Keyboard is installed in Windows XP.
I can type with that to obtain French accents on an Internet Explorer browser page. To type an email on Outlook Express there is only have the plain keyboard - no access to accents except the Alt+numeric keyboard numbers.
What is blocking the US-International keyboard to Outlook Express?

Lauir B, possible to change default font? SWAG (dunno for sure, never tried) , take a look at your character map (start>programs>accessories>system tools>character map) and see if the characters you want are listed. If so, hover the cursor over them and you'll see a rather arcane set of numbers. If you press Alt+the number and release, it should conjure that character. Maybe you could import the desired character(s) (or at least get the Alt code) into your default font from the international?

Ed (in Texas),
But as I am sure you MUST have experienced the prob has resolved itself by itself overnight !
Yes the character map is OK to take to your Outlook text an accented letter. In fact you click on the letter, select it, put to clipboard and your accented letter will appear on your Outlook text.
What had happened was that the US-International keyboard would function on a browser web page, for example this page I am typing on now.
So: é, à, ç , ü, ô are all easily typed.

Outlook Express typed 'e, `a, ,c, "u, ^o. Amazing!

So I entered my prob as above.
Thanks again for your assist.
The principle? When going out , take your umbrella. It's sure not to rain!
Well, if I hadn't entered the problem perhaps there would have been no spontaneous resolution !
Thanks - L
