why is it if there is no operating system on my pc ,that
I do not get the standard setup feature when you press the F8 key.
That is the screen that allows you to boot into DOS
or Safe mode, or Normal mode , or With command prompt , ?
I recently wipped off the Windows XP Pro, and after I press F8 ,I only get a small window asking me if I want to boot off Hdd or CD .

See More: no operating system

if you wiped out your hard disk, then the F8 menu that include the safe mode is gone, because that menu is part of windows.

some computers have a quick menu that allows you to select the device from which you want to start the computer from. and this menu is part of your BIOS not the operating system.

"I recently wipped off the Windows XP Pro"..."I do not get the standard setup feature when you press the F8 key"

The hard drive is blank. There is nothing to boot from. If you want to reinstall XP, you need to use the CD.
