No Login Screen Windows xp

Specs: Windows XP
I recently got maleware on one of my machines, I made the nessecary scans and believe i successfully got rid of anything that this computer may of have. However the maleware is not my biggest concern. Now when i start my computer, Windows loads up but there is no log in screen. after windows loads up i get the Blue screen (not to be confused with the BSOD) but no log in window. I tried booting into safe mode, with success. I get the log in screen with safe mode, but not when normally booting the machine. I also tried changing the kernel32.dll file with a recovery disk with no luck. I checked out all the threads and nobody seems to have the same problem, as i can get into the computer with safe mode, unlike others... Any help is appericated and i thank you in advanced

If you have an XP disk, run a repair on it. The malware scan may have taken out a necessary file to boot.

That would be a repair install which is like a new install except it keeps your data/apps and just refreshes the system files.
