no LAN after XP Install Acer Laptop 5570Z

Specs: Windows XP
Hi so I recently got a laptop that needs an OS. Previous owner said that employer wiped "everything" and would need a OS. I put XP on it and cannot get it to connect (or detect) a LAN ethernet connection. I went to the website (acer) and downloaded ,onto a flash drive, the Marvel driver that I thought was correct but nada. On the device manager there is a yellow ? under "other devices" that says "ethernet controller" when I click update it asks for an install cd or to connect to the internet to find one. What did I do wrong? and how can I fix it?

There are two drivers listed for that Laptop, one Marvel and one Realtek. Did you try the other one?
