Solved No DSL service after reformating hard drive with XP

Specs: Windows XP
Used a reformatting XP software disc to reformat my hard drive. The computer was operating extremely slow. After formatting and loading XP everything worked except I could not get an internet service. Both the phone line and DSL did not work. Check with a spare lap top computer and the DSL was okay.

Sounds to me as if you need a driver for your computer. All extra software you downloaded when you formatted the hard drive were deleted. Go online with your other computer, download the software you need from the manufacturer's website, and install it on the computer that you just formatted. Or, if it came with a disc, install the drivers from that.

NT56erbx is correct, if you look in Device Manager, you will see the drivers missing, marked with yellow.

They are your motherboard drivers.

You will need to know your motherboard model number.

This will give it to you.
