Solved Nikon movie editor uninstall problem

August 10, 2014 at 10:36:13
Specs: Windows XP
HI
I want to remove "Nikon Movie editor programme" from my lap top because it is interfering with my PowerPoint presentations also my windows movie player, when I go to the Add/Remove programmes menu and scroll down to it and click on it to remove instead of the remove button appearing I get nothing except "Rarely used label" where the remove button should be,
I have tried to remove it from the windows search list but get an error message saying "cannot remove from the source disc", I can't understand why I am getting this error message as the Nikon disc "is Not installed",
I am using windows XP, I would be pleased if you could help me thanks;

Have you got CCleaner onboard? If so see if the Uninstaller works (in Tools).

There are also free programs such as Revo Uninstaller but it might be an idea try CCleaner first.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Hi,

Yes the solution that "Nailed it" for me was this one :-

Well if this is the problem then you could try out this method... although it is quite tricky one and can some time cause unexpected results.

as we all know even if we delete software from the installation directory but it is yet not removed form the registry.

so the software you want to remove, first search for it in the system registry.

to open it type"regedit" in the run dialog box.

when it opens press ctrl+f and type the name of the program and search for it.

delete all the keys you find, and continue it by pressing F3 key.

when you have deleted all, then delete it from the installation directory.

Try cleaning the TEMP folder also and then restart your compuer.

Its Done.

Although it might happen that it is still visible in the Add or Remove program, but don't worry its all done.

A big :-) all round .............

Thanks for that. Don't worry about any Best Answer requests from here. In cases like this the mods usually pick it up eventually and will give it to yourself.
