Solved New Audio Card Not Functioning

July 14, 2013 at 16:29:15
Specs: Windows XP Pro, 600mhz/ 640 RAM
I just put in a Creative Labs Soundblaster CX4870 and downloaded and installed the KX audio driver for it, and now I have no sound at all. I tried reading the literature for the driver, but it is over-whelming (This is my first audio card). I checked Device Manager in Windows, and it seems to be locating the card, but other audio devices are listed there too (probably my integrated audio). I have the new card selected. Why am I not getting sound (I ran the speaker check with the KX software, and there was no sound, and I get no sound from web pages or videos.
Can someone walk me through this?

"Creative Labs Soundblaster CX4870"
Google doesn't reveal a CX4870, it does show CT4870 which is very old.

More drivers here, select the right one for your version of XP, 32 or 64bit.

I use this tool, if the above info fails.
If all the other drivers are working well, leave them alone, only update the sound card.

Update your system drivers on the fly.

Thanks, Johnw. It is, indeed, the CT4870, not CX.
The first post did the trick for me. I had to 1.) plug my speakers into the back of the card. 2.) enable surrounder.
I appreciate it.
