.NET framework 2.0 sp2 updates want to repeat themselves

June 16, 2012 at 17:56:44
Specs: Windows XP home sp3, 3.209 GHz / 3327 MB
Windows update keeps wanting to download the same updates. They are both Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 sp2 updates called: KB2656369 (which shows up in Add/Remove Programs as KB2656369v2) and KB2686828. Add/Remove Programs shows them last updated 6-12-2012. As we speak, windows wants to update them again!

Possible clues: Also there are numerous updates indented below the main original. The first 10 are dated 6-10-2009. All of them, including the above mentioned ones, are preceded with a blue circle with a ? mark inside them. Also note that I have Visual Studio 2003 and Visual Studio 2008 installed on the computer.

Thanks in advance for any insight into this.

Thanks mattamillion for your response. I have fiddled with these settings and now am on the notify but not install until I want. (It wants to when I Shut down)

Now can anyone tell me why a blue circle with a ? mark in it precedes the already installed updates. This is the case for .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 as well as .NET Framework 3.0 SP2. Does this mean they are not used, or perhaps the usual icon is missing?

I have thought of uninstalling 2.0 and all its subparts to see what happens. If some program says it needs it, I would install it from Microsoft and see what happens. Any further info would be greatly appreciated!
