.NET cannot install

Specs: Windows XP
Hello,
I could not install .NET framework 2.0 SP2 through windowsupdate. I followed the MS instructions and finally i unistalled all .NET. Now, i can only install 1. and 1.1 and nothing else. i also tried to instal win xp sp3 again, but no luck. I get all kinds of errors during installation (ngen.exe etc.). I would not want to make a winxp clean install all over again.

Thanks in advance

You have to uninstall all previous .NETs then rerun a Windows Update. Goto Control Panel -> Add Remove Programs -> Remove any thing that refers to .NET. Then Control Panel -> Automatic Updates -> Manual Update -> Chose Advances -> Goto Software and select all the .NET updates.

Thanks for the reply.
I tried to do exactly that, but it was way much more complicated than I thought. Unistalling .NET from ControlPanel>Add/Remove Programs did not work.
I had to download a .NET Cleanup Utility from a blog on the web: http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/page...
and uninstall effectively everything .NET.
Then, from Windows Update i reinstalled .NET.

Oops, yes I for got the cleanup utility because add remove programs alone will not do it.
