Exe (executable) files aren't bootable. They are run from within a Windows operating system. You need an image file or ISO file.

Have you tried accessing the default administrator account to emmend your password?

If the password hasn't been changed on the hidden administrators account you may be able to access it in safe mode and reset your password.

The link in my first post has a walkthrough. Although I've done it through control panel rather than using command prompt.

I should ask, the older computer is running Windows XP?

Instead of trying to create a bootable cd with that file on it try reseting the password this way:

http://www.computing.net/answers/wi...

You just need an OS installation disk.

You don't need to go thru all the above, just use this: http://pogostick.net/~pnh/ntpasswd/
