need help with boot acceptance application

Specs: Windows XP
when i boot my computer up and it gets to the screen where you can pick what user you want to log on, it will log it on but then this message box pops up that says...
"To help protect your computer, Windows has closed this program...
NAME: Boot acceptance Application for Registry,
PUBLISHER: Microsoft Corporation." What do I do now?

I cant get on anything to turn the application off so what do i do?

This can be caused by a number of things.
1) try removing and replacing the memory sticks
2) virus issues in which case you may want to use a 3rd party boot disc with antivirus programs as I don't think you can get into safe mode.
3) Bad sectors on the the harddrive and you will need to be able to run chkdsk to find and repair

i removed the memory sticks and then i put them back in. put my computer all back together and plugged everything back in, and now the thing wont even turn on???
