Need help on multibooting Win7 & XP

Microsoft Xbox 360 250gb gaming console...

Specs: Windows XP
I have 2 partition in a same hard disk all along then i wanted to install windows 7 instead of xp. but i installed the windows 7 into the d partition by mistake.i did not like it , so i merged back the partition all into C partition..the windows 7 is gone..everything was normal except when booting there is a selection of OS , Windows XP the 1 i am using and Windows 7(empty) the 1 i have deleted..
After which.. i've decided to do something on it.. i googled it up and find that easybcd can solve this problem, however, upon opening easybcd , there is window 7 and window xp in the boot menu tab..then i am not sure which i have deleted , then i restarted my computer. Then it says , "Recent hard ware or software changes might be the cause of this "
1. insert the windows disc etc..
when i press f5 ..Only windows 7 was left in the option.. there were no signs of there any solution to solve this problem without the windows installation disc.i am 100% sure that harddisk is ok and the os is good i tried my hard disk on my friend's com. only the booting part is the problem..
any help will be appreciated.

Do a repair install of xp to correct this issue.

You would have been fine just leaving it alone and setting xp as the default boot with no delay. No deleting required.
