"...it says save and thats it. it wont let me open it..." ... (worked for me on download)

... its a tiny "zip" file 12.6kb save it, extract the file from the "saved" download

... then what did you want to do with it?

... guessing you want to copy it to C:\windows\system32

... what was your main problem in needing the file?

Go here:
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_ass...
Download and run "Exe File Association Fix".

Often Windows gives misleading messages when it is confused. There might not be anything wrong with rundll32.exe at all. Have you looked for it in c:\windows\system32 (that is where it should be)? There are likely to be others on your machine you could copy into place. I can assist on that if need be but run the exe fix first. If you are on the wrong track it could cause even more problems messing around with rundll32.exe files. Windows does not usually allow programs to remove MS system files so I'm quite suspicious.

We all live on a ball.

Are you sure you don't have rundll32.exe in System32? Have a look wheither you have it in System32\dllcache. Windows cache it to this folder. Or other folders startings with $ in c:\Windows. I think downloading rundll32.exe from internet is no good since versions could be different and you may download a malware instead of system file. Besides, many malwares camouflage themselves as rundll32.exe rundll32.exe
