my recycle bin icon has vanished from my desktop screen

Specs: Windows XP
my recycle bin icon has vanished off my desk top screen.
how can i recall it?
i can still send items to the bin but i would like to empty it.

right click on a empty spot on the desktop, and choose Propeties. Select the desktop tab. Then click on Customize Desktop. Then you will click on restore default. Or you can check the box that says Recyle bin.

the solution you suggested only gives me the following when I select
customize d/top
my computer-my docs-my net places and 2 recycle bins,1 showing full the other empty,still no recycle bin on d/top
What am I not doing correctly?

Do you not get a series of check boxes above the icons?

Another way is to open the recycle bin from Windows Explorer. Tight click on Recycle Bin and select Send To> Desktop (create short cut)

How did it disappear--did you delete it, hide it or move it inside another folder?
