Solved my pc shutdowns after 5 minuts from login. I

Specs: Windows XP
my PC shutdowns after 5 minutes from login. If i press caps lock key then also its shut down. I took out the the ram and cleaned it and the slot also. But again its repeating. whats the reason for this. the PC have only 2 month of age. Intel 5700 dual core processor, Intel DG41WV motherboard and Kingston 2gb ram are the configurations

Why would you do that? If the PC is only 2 months old, it should be under warranty. Take it back to the store you bought it from.

Hmm, this sounds either like a virus or overheating issue

My advice would be to check for latest antivirus definitions and perform a FULL system scan and see if anything comes up

Other than that, just check that the CPU heatsink is installed correctly. Use software like hwmonitor (free) to make sure that none of the components are getting too hot (most websites reccomend that your model of CPU should not go above 75'C)

Edit: Just re-reading your post you should try using memtest86+ which will scan your memory and test for errors.

how is any of that possible if his machine only stays on 5 mins??

boot into the bios setup and check your temps. Stay there and run it for 15 mins, if you can.

i reinstalled the xp 2 or 3 times. 1st time it suddenly off while installing.. i formatted the HDD Also.. CPU temperature is 65 degree... is it the overheating problem///

65C is above average but not above the max. Did you use thermal paste when you installed the cpu?
Post the specs for you power supply. are you using the integrated graphics or an addon card?

now its showing a command before shutdown.. "C++ RUNTIME ERROR" I dont know what is happening with ma pc. Now its stays more than 5 minuts from login.
