My internet explorer got deleted by mistake from add/remove program. and now that i 'm trying to install it , i get the message that :
Sorry, we can't find "download.microsoft.com/download/ie6sp1/finrel/6_sp1/w98nt42kmexp/en-us/ie6setup.exe". Please check the spelling of the web address.
what do i do?
It all depends on exactly what you did. Without knowing that I assume it has tried to go back to IE6 but that is missing too. In which case, on another machine download IE7 or IE8 (depending on which you prefer) from MS on the web. Either burn the download to a CD or put it on a flash drive, then transfer it to the computer with the problem and double click the downloaded file.
How to know you are getting old 1:
If you can remember when radishes tasted of something
"download.microsoft.com/download/ie6sp1/finrel/6_sp1/w98nt42kmexp/en-us/ie6setup.exe". IE6 is not even supported anymore, I suggest you upgrade to IE7 because IE 8 is too jammed with secirity for XP
Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers
FWIW: that address is correct. What application is giving you that "can't find" message? According to your stated scenario, it can't be IE... BTW, that "ie6setup.exe" is just a "stub" [480KB].
