I had a message saying re-install your Windows XP Disk. I did this but my screen keeps locking up at the installing phase...however it wont go any further. No keys works and all I can get to is the screen with the following: Boot Protocol :PXE
Boot Option: Network First, then local.
How do i get my PC to start working again
Enter the BIOS & change the boot order. This is a stand-alone computer you're asking about, right? For some reason, you have your system setup to boot off a network.
Thanks. Keeps going back to same blue screen saying set-up is being started. It starts run set-up but eventually stops asking if I want to continue. The mouse then locks and yes or no cannot be selected.
have got a window with C:/windows/system32/cmd.exe. Can I restart from here or reboot
I suggest you start over. Boot off the XP disc - make sure you "press any key...." when prompted - if you don't, the system will bypass the CD & attempt to boot off the HDD. Wipe out all partitioning, then create new partitions. Format as NTFS, then continue with the installation.
