Specs: Windows 7 Service Pack 2, 3,16 GHz, 3,17 GHz / 2 gigs
Hello, my problem is that my whole harddisk just dissapeared from My Computer tab overnight. The computer was turned off so I dont know how could this happen. When I type C:\ into adress bar in My Computer I get this error: "This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator." I did not restricted anything, this computer is only mine and I am its administrator. I have two harddrives. One is C:\ and its system folder. Second is E:\ and D:\ its partitioned into two parts. Those two are working flawlessly.

Most trojans and virus are coded for c: drive. There are several utilities to scan for these problems. Mostly they use policy features in Windows to lock out actions.
You may or may not have access to policy editor. Address the bug - needs removed.
The security and virus section might be a good place to look for similar problems and solutions.
Any newly installed applications?

go to start, run and type CMD>

in command prompt ,see in which drive you are. if you are in C: means there is some infection which is not letting you open the drive.

type this : dir /a C:\auto*

and see the output. what you see ? Any autorun.inf ?

Try to start windows in Safe mode with pressing F8 key before the start of windows. When windows get booted upto desktop, Open My Computer -> . Then type C: in address bar . Can you see the C: now and it contents . Then follow the process adopted by Subash to check for any autorun.inf file in root of C: If there is any , then there must be a virus in your system. Just take a backup anything of c: . And restore the system from system restore cd's.
