Solved my desktop completely crashed

Specs: Windows vista
my pc has completely crashed and it was fine yesterday, not this laptop but my desktop. It wont even start just keep asking about boot media

Also remove any memory cards and CD/DVD media.

Either your hard drive is corrupted/ dead, or your boot order is looking for some other boot device. Check the BIOS (setup) screens to verify the boot order for hardware devices.

mmm... can you be a little more specific about the "error" message?

Make and model of desktop would be very useful too...

Do you see anything on the screen when first it starts up - such for setup press...

Do you know how to get into the bios settings?

Also can you get into safe-mode?

Yeah, more details would be helpful. What's the exact wording of the error? It sounds like the bios may not be seeing the hard drive.

1: Disconnect/unplug all USB drives.

2: Make sure the bios is set to boot from your hard drive ( the one the operating system is installed on ) first.
