Logging off is often used when switching users, if log off does fail, the problem may be simple, the computer hangs every time you log it off. This may be due to files left open and/ or programs not closed properly when logging off. Always remember to turn off all applications and close programs that may be running to avoid hang.

jakedenell, I run XP so they may be different? FWIW, Windows seems to have been plagued with shutdown problems of one sort or another since day 1. I use a standalone shutdown proggie (for convenience) called 'Slawdog' (said to work on all versions). Get it free @:
among other places. Works good and I drag/dropped the icon into my quick launch so it'd be handy for use. You might give it a whirl. The price is right.
