my computer says a network cable is unplugged

Specs: Windows XP
Hi. I have just purchased an IBM THINKPAD X60 LEVONO and it keeps saying " LOCAL AREA NETWORK CABLE IS UNPLUGGED. How can I resolve this?

Did you test it before you bought it? Your X60 is attempting to boot off a network. Check the boot order settings in the BIOS - make sure the HDD is listed before the network. Also, make sure the HDD is being recognized. It's possible that the HDD is fried.
