my computer restart when i shut it down

February 13, 2011 at 05:23:30
Specs: Windows XP
when I shutdown the computer it restarts, this has been happening for a few days, there was an error message (I don't recall what the message was or what it was about) the only option was to click ok and since then the computer keeps restarting instead of shutting down, I have searched the web to try and find an answer but keep getting stuck because I am not a computer expert so therefore cautious and get a bit confused with some of the instructions.
I have tried a restore to an earlier date and I have clicked to un click the automatic restart that seems to be the advice from most websites

"(I don't recall what the message was or what it was about)"

We will need the Exact error message.
