it will usually start working after turning it off and back on several times,Im not sure if the processor is failing or if its a windows problem
1. run the PC in BIOS - does it freeze there?
2. run Ubuntu from a CD (no need to install) - does it freeze?if it does not freeze in any of the above the problem is with your Windows installation. Reinstall windows and make sure to use correct drivers.
If it does freeze with the above (points 1&2) the problem most likely is with the hardware
how exactly do i run the pc in the bios. I also just had a problem trying to intall updated drivers from nvidia, it restarted ok but it erased my internet conectionand couldnt install them correctly had to restore.
Doubtful it's the processor, more likely you have bad RAM or your hard drive is failing. I would lean more towards a bad hard drive as RAM is less likely to fail. Boot into the BIOS and see if it has a built in hard drive diagnostics program. If so, run it. If not, find out the manufacture of your hard drive, go their website and most likely they will have a diagnostic program you can download for your drive. To boot into your BIOS watch the starup screen, it will usually tell you the key to press to get to the BIOS. If you can't find it, post back the manufacture of your computer.
