MS Works Word Processor

Compaq desktop / S4100NX

Specs: Windows XP
A template in the label maker program is frozen
in Word Processor. I cannot delete it to restore
the blank document necessary for writing letters,
etc. Should I uninstall Works in the add/remove
section of control panel and reinstall via the CD -
ROM, or is there a fix for this problem? Thanks.

Until someone can give you something more specific, try one of these:

Open word, go to file and close (not exit). Then go back to file and new. This should bring up a new blank document.

Alternately, go to 'New Office Document', select the 'general' tab and select 'blank document'. That should also bring up a new blank word document.

Not knowing what you have tried I will
suggest this:
Using your back space remove the template - go to File - Save - Template - Default - Reset.
If that doesn't work try making a Blank
Use your Back Space to remove the template - File - Save - Template - Type the letter X - check mark the box.
Click OK
See if the template is gone now when you open a new page.
My eMachine will allow me to re-install
Works 8.5
It's listed in All Programs - System Recovery
- Applications.
