|Why would you assume that would work? If the chipset is the same series it may work but otherwise, probably not.|
If the hard drive is an IDE type (wide cable) you may have to move the jumper on the back of the drive to match the original. If the hard drive is larger than 137GB and the computer is old the BIOS may not support the drive.
I suggest you run a hard drive fitness test on that hard drive. The issue with the computer is probably NOT the motherboard.
