How do I move a picture that is part of an email(not an attachment)to "my pictures" file. on my Dell Inspiron 1100

Depending on the e-mail client you're using, but normally it works just like you're saving a picture from a website. Just rightclick the picture and save picture to the location you want.

Just for info, when you do this in Outlook Express the jpg file saved takes on a file name which is a long string of numbers. Messy but it can always be renamed.

I'm aware on this, but I guess, everyone should be able to choose his own filename in the dialog, to save the file at the appropriate location at the hard disk.

Um, Right-Click the picture in the email and do a Save As, unless the email is HTML with a hyperlink then you could just download it from the source URL.
