Mouse frozen at Windows XP login screen

Specs: Windows xp
My wireless mouse or wired mouse has frozen can't get pass the signing in can i use my keyboard to move the pointer, my pc is a dell vostro 200

Pressing the space-bar should do it if yours is the only account on the log-on screen. I just tried it, works for me.

However, you might also find mouse won't work in Windows either.

Use wired mouse until problem is solved, preferably PS2 connection as USB support for mouse needs to be active in BIOS. Go into BIOS and activate USB support for keyboard and mouse in BIOS and save, exit. Also make sure that a USB mouse or keyboard you are using is plugged into a REAR USB port DIRECTLY on your motherboard at the time of start up. When using a wireless mouse for the first time, load the drivers, shut down, plug in, then restart.
