Mouse and keyboard just stop workin

Specs: Windows XP
I installed an internal USB hub successfully and turned on the computer. But the Mouse and Keyboard failed to work even though the green light on the keyboard was on as normal. Right now I'm using an old (USB)keyboard to type this message. The one that doesn't work uses a different input, it has a round end (not USB). Does anyone have any ideas what the problem could be? The round connector used for keyboards and mouse is called a PS2. These are controlled by system controllers(PCI) that require drivers. These drivers sometimes get corrupted and need to be replaced.

Check the device manager to see if they have been disabled as well....

Also...the computer checks for input devices installed on the will only allow 1 keyboard and 1 mouse so if you have these connected through the usb controler then it will not allow for it to be used as well from the PC2 connection(PCI controller)...check the BIOS and make sure that the keyboard is set to PCI and not USB.

One last thing....PS2 connected devices are not hot swappable and will become deffective if connected/disconnected while the computer is on....for the devices to work...the keyboard and mouse must be connected (firmly inserted) before the computer is turned on!
