Specs: Windows XP
Out of the blue my lcd monitor just went black today, it read with a green light that my computer was on, i couldnt even get the monitor settings from the monitor buttons to work, I thought it could be a graphics problem but on this old crt monitor it works fine... is there anything i can do short of springing for a new monitor, the screen flashes on for a second whenever i hit the power button but thats it, the light still reads if computer is on with green light, or not with orange...

If your looking for a second opinion

I'm sorry to say it sounds like it's had it and it's time for a new monitor.

mmm - could well be the backlight hath died a death.. Happens to many in time - and HP, Sharp - amongst others - have a pattern of this failiure on some of their lcd display models.

There is also a chip in the early stages of signal processing that is known to often fail in many an lcd.. It can be replaced - but likely the labour cost alone will not be cheap; and one has to find someone who knows what (s)he is doing as well locate the duff item and secure a proper replacement part...

A new unit may well be cheaper - and possibly a better display too - overall? If you go this latter route... have a look-see at Acer units. I have one and it is excellent; and Acer have good name for clear, sharp displays...
