My own machine is a Mesh running Vista, but the problem computer is an HP running Windows XP which gives the msg missing FAT32 configsys. So any help would be appreciated pse as my daughter needs her computer. I'm IT literate but I haven't been able to recover it using the only disc I have a '98 start-up disc. I think the hard drive is trashed but if u think different would love to know. Thanks
XP is *usually* installed on drives formated as NTFS, not FAT32. Are you sure it's FAT32 & not "system32\config.sys" or possibly "system32\config\system"? It's very important to post the exact error message. I don't know what you expected to do with a Win98 boot disc?
