Apparently some updates ARE still rolling out for Windows XP.

Microsoft has released a security update to Silverlight 5.

If you use Netflix on your computer, then you have Silverlight and need to install this update! If you have automatic updates turned on it will be installed automatically. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down...

That's a big surprise.

Wound up my old XP and down it came. Slight indignity because I also back up all XP updates to DVD and it said the disk was full. As they were done monthly (overheads) if I produce a new DVD it will probably fit them all on with ease as one bulk copy.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

@Derek

So far Silverlight and Microsoft Office 2003 & 2007 continue to receive updates on XP.

But Microsoft couldn't be bothered to patch Internet Explorer 8 on XP even though it is still patched on Vista and 7 (IE 8 is 7's default browser).

Oh well, I'm always happy using Chrome, Firefox, or Opera.

Whilst I fully accept that XP is old, I suspect that marketing had a lot to do with the approach to it by MS. After all, for money - business, they have still been producing and dispensing all security updates for XP since April 2014.

I knocked up a couple of "How-To's" about bumping up security on XP - might be of interest to any XP user that hasn't already seen them:
