Merge 5 HDD partitions into 1 volume

April 22, 2011 at 19:30:40
Specs: Windows XP, 1gb
I upgraded my Windows XP to SP3 and now I have a C, D, E, F, and M drive.

C: 1.95 gb
D: 1.95
E: 1.95
F: 1.51
M: 29.89

And also one called 'HP v125w (H)' 3.75 gb

I would like all of these to be merged into the C drive so I can install programs without it throwing a low disk space error.

Simply upgrading will not create more partitions. You need to go thru a lot of steps to partition a HDD. I question the sizes you listed too. Which partition contains Windows? Microsoft states the minimum partition size for XP is 1.5GB, but that leaves little room for anything else.

I suggest you try Easeus Partition Master. It's free & works great.

With five partitions one of them must be an extended partition with at least two logical drives inside it. These cannot be merged with primary partitions of which you must have at least one. I would question as to how you managed to create four drives with less than 2GBs. You have got to work really hard to achieve that feat. You cannot have five primary partitions on a PC with some third party software to do it.

The 'HP v125w (H)' partition will be your recovery partition. I would leave that well alone,
