mb drivers for HP Pavillion 753n

June 4, 2010 at 19:21:31
Specs: Linux i686
I transferred the hard drive from a dead 750n to a 753n. Windows (XP Home) won't boot because the drivers for the 750n and the 753n are different. My restore disks are for the 750n only. I can't find the drivers except as an .exe package on HP. Since windows won't boot that doesn't help. I have linux on another drive (same pc). I can access the windows partition and could copy correct drivers to windows, but I can't find the drivers in their native state. Any suggestions? I would be happy to use only linux, but there is one windows program that I need that will not run under Wine.

Problem solved. I used linux to copy the driver .exe file to the windows partition. I then used an xp install disk and requested that it fix the xp partition. It did boot it up with the lowest screen resolution, hardly readable. I then scrolled to the .exe file and clicked it. It installed the drivers and rebooted the computer. Windows came up looking just like it did before. All data was intact and it was good to go.
