Mass Mailing doesn't work with XP

Mike Perkinson January 30, 2009 at 08:33:50
Specs: Windows XP
Recently switched OS to Win XP Pro SP3 from Win 2000 Pro. Also have laptop running XP Home SP3. Neither can run Management ware Mass Mailing News (ONLY for Opt-in mailing list). Use Roadrunner but have disabled all firewalls, routers. Its is a smtp-server based program where I simply input smtp-server name. Was working before on Win 2000 and still works on son's desktop running Win 2000. Can also run the program successfully thru gmail server. Fairly new to XP but can't find anything that should block access to smtp server. Get error message "Connection has failed because connected host has failed to respond". Anyone...any ideas on what to try?
Thanks so much in advance for your time and trouble.

You've probably already covered this, but since you mentioned you're new to XP, I'll mention it --Just in case...

You said you'd disabled all firewalls. Just wanted to make sure you're aware that Windows XP has a built-in Firewall. If you haven't disabled it yet you can find the controls here: Start - Control Panel - Windows Firewall.

Yes, Thanks. Haven't even reinstalled any other security package on desktop yet. Tried with Windows Firewalll on and off woth same result. There is a setting common to Win XP that is causing the havoc but I can't seem to put my finger on it. Open to any and all responders to any possible solution.
