I have many, many $NtUninstall...$ folders in my Windows folder. What are they and can I delete them? Is there anything special I need to do to delete them? Thanks for the information. WHY do I have over 200 of these folders?
Scan your computer for viruses !! It may be because of virus(es) Solving Technical queries is my passion and I just Love it !!
DON'T DELETE THEM! Those folders contain uninstallers for Windows Updates you have installed. If you delete them, then you won't be able to uninstall any updates. This is not a virus, all of the Windows Update Uninstallers in Windows XP are stored in the NT Uninstall folders in the Windows root. If you have little free hard disk space, uninstall programs or move files to an external hard drive.
As stated by RMT2, they are uninstallers for Windows Updates & Hotfixes. They are NOT viruses! You can get rid of them if you like but if you do, you will not be able to uninstall the Hotfixes. Download & install CCleaner-Slim: http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/bu...
Run it regularly to clear out all the accumulated internet garbage & temp files. If you want to get rid of those Uninstaller files/folders, put a check in the box next to "Hotfix Uninstallers", then run the Cleaner again.
