My father has an old laptop running XP that recently started poping up a corrupt file error for a temporary user file in AOL 9.5. I ran chckdsk but its unable to fix the file. my question is: Is there anway to simply make the popup stop displaying every 30 seconds? Hes looking to get a new laptop in about a month and the file thats corrupted is not affecting anything (even AOL). so is there any way I can just have it stop displaying for a while?
does uninstalling AOL help at all, that way there is nothing using the file?
no, I uninstalled AOL successfully and reinstalled in in another folder but the original file continues to pop up. The file is in the documents and settings/user/me/local settings/application data/aol/1778765 folder and is a .tmp file
So why not delete the file ????
if only it was that easy... that was my first thought but unable to delete, It doesnt let me access modify or delete the file.
