Specs: Windows XP prof, 2g
I have a 120g external disk in an IDE/usb enclosure. Want to make it a MAC OS data disk for a friend's files and pictures. I only have XP machines to do this with.

Thanks for the link. I guess what I really need is some utility like Partition Magic or Acronis that will format a Mac OS file system to an external drive. The external is to be used with a Mac only.

current macs can read ntfs and fat32 filestore (which are what is available to xp). If you're wanting to put files on it for your friend, just make it ntfs and your friend can read them. If your friend then wants to use the disk to write to from mac, can copy files onto mac then get the mac to format it for its own use. If your friend just needs empty drive, let him/her use the mac to set it up.

Thanks for the info. All I want to do is make an external drive a Mac OS system. Just for Mac format files. I would rather not put Mac OS on my current machine just to be able to do this. Does anyone know of a disk utility that runs on XP that allows formatting of an external drive to the Mac OS. Does not have to be bootable, just a Mac OS data disk.
