locked out of old PC & dont remember password

Specs: Windows XP home edition 1985-2001
i recently started using an old computer again with windows XP home edition and left with it running. when i returned, it had locked and said i needed the password to unlock it. problem is, i haven't used this computer in years and have no clue what the password is. anyway to reset it? i doubt i have the installation disk anymore.

can you restart in safe mode & get in the default administrator account?

you can download hiren's boot CD or nt pw reset cd and reset the admin account (or any other user's account).

That's what I was thinking too, and if so, just reboot the computer.

Try just clicking "OK". There may not even be a set password, just that you have set to log in screen after wake up.
