lexar 8GB sdhc memory card isn't recognized

Specs: Windows xp
When I put the card in the slot the computer doesn't recognize it, I can put a Kodak memory card and it will read it. What can I do

Try the card in another computer.. if it fails it may be damaged, replace it, they're cheap enough.

Some readers only read lower sized cards. Did you try other 8G cards in that?

Further to what Jefro said above, there is a difference between SD cards and SDHC cards. SD cards maxed out at 2G. The ordinary card reader in a computer would read SD cards quite well. When SDHC cards came on the market, all of that changed. You need a different reader for these cards. These cards are available in 4G, 8G, 16&32G. These readers are available at your local computer store and are relatively inexpensive.
