Left click on pc files/folders yeilds error

March 25, 2011 at 18:10:41
Specs: Windows XP
When I click on files/folders in my pc, they do not open, but I get a message that says: cannot open help file. At other times I just get the opening of the "search" pane. I can open most of them by right clicking and selecting explore, but NOTHING opens anymore with a left click, as it did before. I think it has something to do with "folder options", or "file associations", but I do not understand how to deal with either of these. I have Win. XP. Thanks for any help.

Thanks to Johnw for responding. Interesting possibilities! I checked them all out, but still came up short in some ways. Good of you to come up with these. Thanks!
